Barkbox: December 2017 Review

(Disclosure: This post contains an affiliate code)

Barkbox is a monthly subscription box that brings you 4-6 products of dog treats, chews, and toys. You have many options of how long you want your subscription to last (1, 3, 6, or 12 months) and if it’s for a small, medium, or large sized dog. These boxes are $29 for 1 month and discounts apply for when you purchase more than 1 month. They now have an option for Super Chewer boxes, which retails for $39. Shipping is free to those who live in the Continental US. You can get a free Barkbox with code DOGLIFEINCLE. They are very clever with monthly themes and items that coordinate well with the theme. You can also buy items from the box at BarkShop or you can purchase items at Target! This review is for a box for a large sized dog.

The Theme:

This month’s theme is Dogmas in the City. It’s the holiday season and dogs celebrate too! The description card lists 10 holiday traditions that the dogs in the decorative paper are doing, including howling a festive tune and placing a ball on the Christmas Tree! The toys were great and the treats were a hit with the awesome names that goes along with the 12 Days of Christmas. This box was a great value and another hit in our household. You have pictures of your dog with this month’s Barkbox? Use hashtag’s #DogmasintheCity, #barkbox, and #barkboxday on social media and share them!

Keep in mind this is box I am reviewing is the LARGE sized dog box. Take a look at what’s inside:

The Toys:

Norm the Nutcracker ($12) – This BARK toy is a plush nutcracker stuffed with fluff and a giggle stick core. This toy has my dogs favorite of the two. They liked the giggle stick noise and playing tug of war with it. This toy was durable for about 4-5 hours before stuffing was pulled out.

Dogmas Tree Delivery ($12) –  This cute BARK toy is a plush stuffing filled toy with a squeaker in the tree and the taxi cab. This toy was Mia’s favorite. She really enjoyed squeaking it and chewing on it. This toy lasted over 12 hours.

The Treats and Chews:

Six Treats A’Clucking! ($12) – These treats are made by Bark in the USA. They are 20 kcal per treat and contain the following ingredients (now conveniently listed on the website): Chicken, Brown Rice, Pearled Barley, Oatmeal, Vegetable Glycerin, Cheddar Cheese, Potato Starch, Flaxseed, Canola Oil (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols, a source of Vitamin E), Salt, Pork Stock, Natural Cheddar Cheese Flavor, Citric Acid (a natural preservative), Acetic Acid (a natural preservative). And they are wheat, corn, and soy free! My dogs really enjoyed them too. I love that the name is a playoff of the song 12 Days of Christmas!

Seven Snacks A’Quacking ($12) – These donut shaped  treats are made by Bark in the USA. These savory duck flavored treats are 10kcal per treat and are made out of Duck, Oatmeal, Brown Rice, Pearled Barley, Vegetable Glycerin, Potato Starch, Bacon, Apples, Flaxseed, Salt, Pork Stock, Natural Apple Flavor, Citric Acid (a natural preservative), Acetic Acid (a natural preservative), Mixed Tocopherols (a source of Vitamin E). And they are wheat, corn, and soy free! My dogs really enjoyed them too. I love that the name is a playoff of the song 12 Days of Christmas!

Frank’s Flank – Steak Chew ($4) – This chew is made by Butcher’s Block in the USA. This steak chew is made out of American Angus that is hand trimmed and slow roasted for 3 days. I was able to break this in half and give to my pups. This chew crumbles up and they ate it off the floor.

The Conclusion

The retail value of this box is $52! This is a a steal for the holidays! Mia and Bella enjoyed everything in this box. The toys were plush but they did not destroy them within the first couple hours. They were practically grabbing the treats right out of my hand. The theme is Christmas related for the holidays, which made it perfect to give as a Christmas gift.

If you haven’t yet, try it out with the code DOGLIFEINCLE for a free box on Barkbox’s website! Make sure to hashtag your photos on social media: #barkboxday and #DogmasintheCity. And if you have a dog who destroys these toys, use the hashtag #destroyersclub to get a coupon code for more items from the Barkshop! Barkshop also has a Scout’s Honor that if your pup doesn’t like any items, you can get a free return and exchange.
